Student Testimonials

"I chose NHITA because it came highly recommended by my massage therapist, a previous very successful NHITA graduate.

After seven months of education, I am extremely pleased with the decision I made! The education I am receiving is top notch and incredibly well rounded. Academically, they have figured out a structure that is very comprehensive and at the same time rewarding and fun. The diversity of the training has already exceeded my expectations. The faculty is very professional and accommodating.

I am receiving a very gratifying education from people that have the comprehensive knowledge and experience to give me all the tools that I will need to inevitably make me successful!"

"NHITA has become a virtual doorway to a deeper than expected understanding of massage therapy and the therapeutic arts. The faculty and staff add the personal touch needed in today's fast-paced world. The instructors not only possess a thorough knowledge of the subjects, but an obvious passion for their profession. Through the comprehensive instruction at NHITA, I have new confidence to care for and educate my clients so that they may achieve their highest level of wellness. My favorite method of massage therapy is to give and receive Neuromuscular Technique, which I will no doubt be using as my primary method of care for clients for years to come!"

"Deciding to attend school again after so many years was a huge decision for me and one that was a long time in the making. I had done a lot of research on massage therapy schools and NHITA continuously came up on the top of my list.

The curriculum is thorough and the instructors all come from various backgrounds. It is obvious that they are all very passionate about what they do. They are able to share real world experiences with the class. The courses are approached and taught with the recognition that there are people from all walks of life in their classroom. The courses are all encompassing and varied so I feel upon graduation I will have a thorough understanding of what I need to do in order to be successful in my new career.

I will have a variety of modalities under my belt that will help me in assisting and improving the quality of life for my clients. I truly feel this is a course packed with extremely valuable information that every human being should be required to take in life whether or not you pursue a career in massage therapy."

"I have so many things to say about NHITA that I hardly know where to start. I have been wishing, wanting and dreaming about the day that I would become a massage therapist; NHITA has made that dream real. I have always believed that there is a purpose to every step we take on our path, and now I know that all my wanderings brought me to exactly the right place at the right moment. I can't articulate the feeling completely, but from the first visit to the Bridgton NHITA campus almost 14 years ago, I knew that this was where I wanted to be.

There is something magic about NHITA, you will feel it the first time you shake hands with Dr. Cowan, the first time Gretchen smiles at you and the first time you attempt to recreate a Swedish or lymphatic stroke you've watched your instructors perform. The instruction at NHITA is excellent. I found the instructors to be passionate, energetic and enthusiastic about the school and their profession. I became a nurse 30 years ago because I needed a way to support my child; I am becoming a massage therapist today because I want to support my spirit. NHITA understood this passion and are making it possible for me to achieve my goals. I have had my share of challenges during this school year and not only have the instructors and administrators worked with me, but they have continually challenged me to rise above the challenge and to continue to seek my true goal. I will be 57 years old when I graduate from this program and I feel truly alive for the first time in a long time.

Our class is extremely diverse; on one end recent high school graduates, on the other, older adults like me who have already had a full career life and are returning to fulfill a dream or purpose. The professionalism and flexibility of the staff and administration gave us all a place to achieve our goals. I believe it is a special campus that can meet the needs for this wide array of Individuals.

Now that I have spoken of all the touchy-feely stuff let me talk about the education I have received here at NHITA. I have learned more anatomy and physiology in this program than I learned in 2 years of nursing school. I can speak to my clients with confidence about the massage techniques/modalities, but also about the symptoms they are describing and the anatomy and physiology behind those complaints. The Health Services Management courses have prepared me to become a part of a health care team or to embark on my dream of opening my own practice. I am 2-1/2 months from graduation and feel fully prepared to take my national certifications and am poised to apply for state licensing. I will miss being in school, miss the support of our instructors, the camaraderie with the students and the nurture and care of the administrators, but I do feel prepared, and I do feel confident in all aspects of clinical practice. I am certain that I could not have found a more thorough educational experience.

Thank you NHITA."
